Fun activities with kids during your family weekend in Flevoland

Fun activities with kids during your family weekend in Flevoland

Even though there is plenty to do in and around our holiday home, you may also want to go out together.
That is possible, because there is plenty to do in Flevoland. Experiencing things together creates unforgettable memories. We are happy to contribute to that.

Looking for fun family outings in the Zeewolde area?

We have collected the best activities for you. From splashing around in Aqua Mundo to climbing in the play forest De Zevensprong. Explore the Barefoot Path, go on an adventure in the Adventure Forest, or try SUP lessons together. And for a fairytale lunch? Hans & Grietje Pancake House! In short, plenty to do for young and old.

Blogger Hans van Reischeck listed the best outings near Zeewolde for our guests!

1. Tropical Swimming Paradise Aqua Mundo at De Eemhof

If your kids love water, Aqua Mundo in De Eemhof is the place to be. There’s something for every family member, whether they’re 3 or 13. There are slides that even the toughest dads can fit on, such as the Turbo Twister and the wild water course. That means laughing and getting wet.

Do you have little ones with you? No problem. There is a special children's pool where they can safely splash and explore. And let's be honest: as a parent, you also want to sit down for a while, right? While the kids are having fun, you can enjoy the peace and quiet in the bubble bath or float around in the wave pool. A little relaxation doesn't hurt either.

Outside there is a lawn where you can lie in the sun (if the weather cooperates of course). Ideal if you want to catch your breath while the children are not finished playing.

2. Hansel and Gretel Pancake House and Playground

At Hans en Grietje in Zeewolde, eating pancakes suddenly becomes an adventure. This is not just any restaurant, but a place where the floor moves under your feet and the tables suddenly do witchcraft. That will keep the children busy for a while, while you try to eat your pancake without your chair starting to slide.

Inside they even have a slide. So before you know it the kids have disappeared to go down it endlessly. Outside the playground is gigantic. Trampolines, bouncy castles, a go-kart circuit with a gas station and car wash—it never ends. Your kids can run around, jump and play for hours, while you relax in the Hooiberg.

Or go and have a scary time together in the haunted house, play in the candy house or climb to the top of the Big Candy Tower. This is a place where children can let their imagination run wild and you have some time to eat your pancake in peace.

3. Adventure forest Harderbos

If your children are keen to explore nature, then the Adventure Forest in Harderbos is just what you are looking for. This four kilometre long route is full of adventure, specially designed for the little explorers. You walk over wobbly bridges and boardwalks, cross the water with a pull ferry, and climb to the top of a lookout tower. It is as if you have ended up in the middle of a jungle, with thick trees and fallen trunks that are just begging to be climbed.

In some places you really feel like you are in the wild. You smell the moss, hear the chirping of birds, and who knows, you might even see beaver tracks. From the lookout tower you might even be lucky and spot one. This is not a walk where the children ask after five minutes how much further it is. Here they are challenged to actively search for everything that nature has to offer.

The Adventure Route starts at the Pluvierenweg in Zeewolde and takes you along the Hoge Dwarsvaart. Ideal for an afternoon full of nature fun with the family. And if you get hungry after all that climbing and scrambling, you can make a pit stop halfway at Hans & Grietje for a pancake and some fun. A perfect outing for young and old.

4. SUP lesson at Surfschool Zeewolde

Looking for something active on the water? Try a SUP lesson at Surfschool Zeewolde. Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is a fun challenge for the whole family. Especially in the beginning, it takes some getting used to keeping your balance, but the friendly instructors explain it step by step. Before you know it, you'll be standing stable on your board and paddling relaxed over the water.

The nice thing is that the water here is not deep, so if you wobble a bit or get soaked, it is not a disaster. Only in the middle of the channel is it a bit deeper, about four meters.

After two hours of SUP the kids still hadn't had enough. It's an ideal way to be active and have fun with the whole family.

5. Barefoot path Zeewolde

For children who like to get dirty and romp around outside, the Barefoot Path in Zeewolde is a bull's eye. This 1.5 kilometre long path takes you through all kinds of different surfaces that you normally walk around neatly with your shoes. But now? Nice with your bare feet in it!

The tour starts innocently with a walk through the Sternhof vegetable garden. There you get the chance to keep your feet clean. Then you come through a grass field where pigs and chickens roam around. But then the real work begins: your feet sink into clay and slide over tree trunks. Slipping, sliding and above all lots of laughter. At the end of the route it gets really fun, because there a variety of surfaces await you, each offering its own challenge.

At €3.50 per person, this outing is affordable and provides a lot of fun. A walk to remember, especially since the children will probably go home with mud on their knees.

6. Play forest De Zevensprong with Gnome forest

In the Hosterwold, near Zeewolde, is Speelbos De Zevensprong, a place where your children can let their imagination run wild. In addition to the play forest, where building huts and climbing are central, there is also a gnome route. Here the little ones can look for gnomes while following an adventurous route.

Or choose the treasure trail, where older children can actively search for clues in nature. The routes are simple and well marked with red posts, so getting lost is not an option.

Perfect for families who love a bit of nature and adventure. The play forest itself is ideal for a few hours of romping around. Building huts, clambering in the climbing net or just running through the woods—it's all possible.
